EA SPORTS Tech provides specialized technology teams working on modern character motion, content pipelines and workflows, machine learning, game security, dev ops, long lead feature and technology development for all EA SPORTS titles, and improves Frostbite engine workflows and solutions for all in partnership with engineers. As part of EA SPORTS Tech, the Technical Art Team helps push visual boundaries and experiences for our players. We invest in future technologies, shared tooling, and production workflows. This is a 12-month contract to begin with, with the possibility of long term employment. This team works hybrid 3 days/onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) at EA Vancouver.

Your Responsibilities

The Technical Artist (TA) develops pipelines, workflows, and technology innovations used by content creators across all of EA SPORTS. As part of a central team of Technical Artists, they partner with development teams to build shared and scalable solutions. The main areas of responsibilities include development of content production tools, pipelines, asset optimization/integration, and workflows. TAs are expected to assume ownership over any technical issues that arise on their projects and bring them to resolution.

You can be from an Art, Design, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science background; however, you must demonstrate a comfort level in working with both art and science. Technical Artists report to Technical Art Directors on the EA SPORTS Tech - Technical Art team.

Your Qualifications:

At least 3+ years of cinematic/games production experience.
A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field.
Effective at communicating with different audiences: artists, engineers, managers.
Proficient scripting/programming in Python or C#. (C++ is a bonus, but is not required).
Experience with 2D/3D art packages such as Maya, Photoshop, Houdini.
A solutions-provider, especially as it pertains to testing and debugging technical issues.
Experience with asset optimization challenges/techniques.
A willingness to jump into the unknown and solve new problems to resolve technical challenges and limitations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

PAY RANGES

British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria): $104,500 - $142,800 CAD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, and extended health/dental/vision coverage and basic life insurance.
