Job Description

Senior Quality Manager – Battery R&D and Graphene Products

Job requisition id: JR100570

Lyten is leading an industrial revolution through Lyten 3D Graphene™, a breakthrough supermaterial unlocking a new generation of products — from lithium–sulfur batteries and energy storage systems to concrete admixtures, lightweight composites, and next-generation sensors that are revolutionizing industries.

Role Overview

Lyten is seeking a Senior Quality Manager to own and scale end‑to‑end quality across battery materials, 3D graphene, and related advanced carbon products (Sensors, Composites, Concrete, etc). This role is accountable for building and operating a robust Quality Management System (QMS) that supports R&D-to-manufacturing transition, customer qualification, and volume production readiness.

The role partners deeply with R and D, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science, and Supply Chain to ensure product integrity, compliance, and continuous improvement across all current and future products within Lyten's portfolio.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast‑scaling, deep‑tech manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Strategy & System Ownership

Own and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) across Baytech for all battery and graphene products.
Define site‑level quality strategy aligned with Lyten's scale‑up, customer qualification, and commercialization roadmap.
Lead preparation for and execution of customer audits, internal audits, and external certifications as required.

Product & Process Quality

Establish and maintain product specifications, control plans, acceptance criteria, and SPC for all products.
Partner with Process and Materials Engineering to define critical‑to‑quality (CTQ) parameters and ensure robust process control.
Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and customer‑reported issues.

Manufacturing Scale‑Up & Readiness

Serve as the quality lead for NPI, scale‑up, and 24/7 manufacturing readiness.
Ensure quality systems scale effectively from pilot to continuous operations.
Define quality gating for process changes, materials changes, and equipment deployment.

Customer & Supplier Quality

Act as the primary quality interface for customers, supporting qualification, issue resolution, and ongoing performance reviews.
Build and manage supplier quality programs, including material qualification, audits, and performance tracking.
Ensure traceability and documentation meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.

Data, Metrics & Continuous Improvement

Define and own quality KPIs (yield, scrap, Cp/Cpk, complaint rate, cost of quality).
Implement data‑driven quality tools and dashboards to support real‑time decision making.
Drive Lean / Six Sigma initiatives and a culture of continuous improvement across the site.

Team Leadership & Culture

Build, lead, and mentor the Baytech Quality team (engineers, technicians, inspectors as applicable).
Establish clear roles, operating rhythms, and accountability.
Champion a strong quality culture integrated with operations—not a gatekeeping function.

Required Qualifications

BS or MS in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
8–12+ years of progressive experience in Quality roles in advanced manufacturing, materials, battery, semiconductor, or chemicals.
Strong knowledge of:
QMS frameworks (ISO‑based or equivalent)
SPC, FMEA, control plans, RCA/CAPA
Manufacturing process control and data analytics
Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with R&D, process engineering, and operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with battery materials, advanced carbons, graphene, or nanomaterials.
Prior ownership of quality through pilot → production transition.
Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
Experience building quality teams and systems from the ground up.

Leadership Traits We're Looking For

Comfortable operating in ambiguity and rapid change
Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, but able to think systemically
Strong backbone - willing to hold the line on quality while enabling speed
Data‑driven decision maker
Builder mentality with startup‑to‑scale experience

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Be able to work in a lab standing up to 8 hours each day.

Compensation Range: $155,200.00 - $232,800.00

In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable)
