Job Description

ROLE OVERVIEW & CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a highly specialized Motion Designer role requiring both elite creative talent and strong technical optimization skills. The candidate will be responsible for producing high-fidelity motion graphics and ensuring seamless integration into digital products.

Core Function: Design motion assets in After Effects and render them into optimized Lottie/Scotty file formats for engineering implementation.

PROJECT SPLIT

90%: Strategic, large-scale focus projects.
10%: Ad-hoc requests (e.g., updating existing motion assets).

ROLE CLARIFICATION

This is not a generalized Product/UX Designer, Graphic Designer, Print Designer, or Illustrator role. The focus is strictly on motion and interactive system-level animation.

TECHNICAL SKILLS & TOOLS

Primary Tools: Adobe After Effects, Figma.
Delivery Standards: Expertise in Lottie/Scotty is required. The candidate must understand technical limitations and translation work when converting After Effects files into clean code-ready assets for mobile applications.
Coding Expectation: No direct coding required but must be able to export optimized specifications and collaborate fluently with engineering teams.
Animation Focus: Strong emphasis on 2D animation. 3D skills are a plus, but not mandatory. No CGI required.
AI Integration: Optional. Use of AI tools to optimize workflows is welcome but not required.

EXPERIENCE & CANDIDATE PROFILE

Seniority: Senior/Lead level (equivalent to industry L5+). Must operate with high autonomy.
Communication: Exceptional communication skills are essential for collaboration, negotiation, and iterative feedback with engineering teams.

BACKGROUND ARCHETYPES

Large-Scale Consumer Software Designers: Experience working on mature products with massive user bases (100M+ users).
Specialized Motion Agencies/Studios: Background in high-end studios with portfolios showcasing diverse technical 2D and creative projects.

TEAM DYNAMICS & LOGISTICS

Location/Time Zone: Remote-friendly, but candidates must be located in or willing to overlap heavily with Pacific Time Zone hours to collaborate effectively with design and engineering teams.
