WHAT YOU'LL DO

We're looking for an Animation Technical Assistant to support our Vancouver studio. In this role, you'll work closely with animators, rigging, and pipeline teams to ensure animation systems, tools, and workflows run smoothly and efficiently. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges while supporting artists in a production environment.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

Support the stability and performance of animation systems and workflows
Provide technical assistance to animators to reduce workflow friction
Assist in the integration and validation of animation assets
Act as a bridge between Animation, Rigging, and Pipeline teams

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop a strong working knowledge of animation tools, systems, and workflows
Support the integration of animation assets into production
Ensure animation setups meet technical, creative, and production requirements
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in animation scenes (including caching issues)
Identify, document, and escalate issues when needed
Collaborate with Pipeline and Rigging teams to improve tools and workflows
Research and share insights on emerging tools, technologies, and best practices
Contribute ideas for improving efficiency and reducing technical blockers for artists
Provide day-to-day technical support to the animation team

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Proficiency in Python and/or MEL scripting
Working knowledge of Autodesk Maya and ShotGrid
Understanding of animation workflows and production pipelines
Familiarity with rigging, skinning, and character systems
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

BENEFITS

Pay Range: CAD $1,400 – $1,500 per week

Location: BC, Canada – candidates must be based in BC.

Project Dates: Late May - late July

This range reflects our current expectations for the role. Final compensation will be based on experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
