SENIOR DIRECTEUR TECHNIQUE DES EFFETS / SENIOR FX TD

IMPORTANT NOTES

This is a short-term role (4 months)
Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and reside in Quebec and British Columbia
This is a unionized position and will be covered by a collective agreement between DNEG and IATSE
As a unionized employee, you will be required to join the union and will benefit from the conditions set out in the collective agreement
Union dues will be required once the collective agreement is in place

DESCRIPTION

FX TDs at DNEG gather a variety of 3D assets produced by our Build, Layout and Animation departments and use off the shelf software - primarily Houdini - and custom pipeline tools to create high-quality particle, pyro, rigid body, fluid, cloth, fur and hair simulations for top VFX Feature Films.

MUST HAVES

Diploma or Certificate in VFX production
Production showreel demonstrating photo-realistic effects such as smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam, explosions, and destruction
Demonstrated ability to create highly complex, sophisticated effects
An eye for detail, good sense of timing, and thorough understanding of techniques and technologies relating to physical simulation in computer graphics
Demonstrated a strong, artistic eye
Interest in live-action FX work
Knowledge of Houdini
Familiarity with pipeline issues and problem-solving
Familiarity with Nuke, and a solid understanding of the compositing process
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision

NICE TO HAVE

Experience in other areas of visual effects (TV, Games) will also be taken into account
A good Generalist TD background
Maya, Python, Hscript or Mel knowledge
Strong understanding of Linux/Unix based operating systems
Demonstration of tool development, specifically in Houdini
